The Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation is a registered public Charitable Foundation that raises funds for medical equipment, infrastructure and continuing education at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
Since it was established in 1982, the Foundation has raised more than 28 million dollars in support of Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

Michael Ritchie - Chair
Mike Ritchie is a Cambridge native and is currently the Vice President, Operations at CGL Manufacturing Ltd.  Mike was formerly the Chief Operating Officer of Polymer Technologies Inc., a Tier II automotive parts supplier with manufacturing operations in Canada and Mexico which services global OEM and Tier I customers in Canada, United States, Mexico, Japan, China, Germany and Brazil.  Mike is a graduate of the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, where he earned his honours business administration degree and the Global Insurance Institute where he received his Canadian Risk Manager designation.  Mike specializes in business development, marketing, organizational strategy and structure. Mike volunteers with Junior Achievement of Waterloo Region and is a Director of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce and the Cambridge and North Dumfries Community Foundation. 

 










 

Susan Brown - Vice Chair
Ms. Brown is Senior Vice President, Ontario Regional Division, BMO Bank of Montreal.  In this position, she is responsible for the full range of financial services the Bank provides to its personal and commercial customers at BMO’s 236 branches throughout Ontario Region. Ms. Brown brings 22 years of experience in the banking industry to her position, much of which has been spent in the commercial banking business, providing diverse financial services to businesses in a wide range of industries.  Susan joined BMO Bank of Montreal in 1994 in Edmonton.  Since that time, she has worked for BMO in several markets across Canada.  Her first executive appointment with BMO Bank of Montreal was as Vice President, Saskatchewan District, from 2001 until the end of 2004, after which she was appointed Vice President, Calgary District, where she served from 2004 until 2006.  Susan also has extensive public and private sector business experience, including consulting for small businesses, seminar leadership, and financial management. Susan Brown was born and raised in Western Canada, and attended the University of Manitoba, where she completed both a Bachelor of Commerce degree and an MBA.  She is very active in the community, having served on many boards in the communities in which she has lived over the years.

 

Natalie Bodnar  - Treasurer
Natalie is a Chartered Accountant working at Research in Motion Ltd as a Finance Manager on the Pricing and Contracts team.  She is actively involved in the community, serving as a volunteer for both the United Way and Habitat for Humanity.  Natalie enjoys interacting with youth by participating in community events to educate local high school students on the CA profession.  She has also volunteered as an advisor and evaluator of competitions for university student entrepreneurs with new venture creations.  As a former Senior Staff Accountant at Ernst & Young LLP, Natalie has remained involved in teaching case writing and debriefing techniques to Ernst & Young CA candidates.

Stephen Witteveen - Secretary
Stephen Witteveen is a lawyer and partner with the Cambridge law firm, Pavey, Law & Witteveen LLP, and has practised for the past 8 years in the areas of corporate/commercial law, mortgages and security, real estate, Wills and estate administration.  During this time Stephen has also served on a variety of local boards and committees, including:  an elder at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, a director and president of the Cambridge North Rotary Club, a director and vice-president of the Cambridge and District Humane Society, a director and vice-president of Redeemer University-College Research Ethics Review Committee, and a member of the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre Board of Advisors.  Stephen and his wife, Corine, live in Cambridge with their three children, two of whom were born at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. 

 

Robert (Bob) Cunningham
Bob is a long term resident of Cambridge and is a recently retired senior business executive with extensive management experience and responsibility for marketing and sales, human relations and industrial relations, supply management, transportation, business planning and strategic development, public relations and communications, information technology, counter trade/offset and risk analysis.  A former Executive Director, Operations Administration with Babcock and Wilcox, Bob has served on various boards, task forces, and committees, including as Chair, and is currently on the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Board of Governors.

  Robert (Sam) Purdy
Sam is a well known Cambridge community leader having worked with a variety of not-for-profit groups.  Of particular note is Sam’s current Directorship with the Cambridge and North Dumfries Chamber of Commerce, a group which he was formerly Chair with.  Sam is a former member of the Waterloo Regional Police and the former General Manager of Cambridge-based Ryobi Technologies.

 

Donovan (Don) Pavey - Hospital Board Rep
Don is a former partner in Pavey, Law & Wannop LLP, Barristers and Solicitors. He completed his Masters in Business Law in 1977 and concentrated his law practice on business, municipal and commercial law. Don's community and governance experience includes: Volunteer, YMCA of Cambridge; Board Member, Cambridge Memorial Hospital Volunteer Association; President, Kiwanis Club of Cambridge, Board Member, Renison College; Board Member, Canadian Diabetes Association of Cambridge;, Province of Ontario and National Board; Chairman, Regional Cycling Advisory Committee; Member, Cambridge On-Road Cycling Committee and Chairperson, Cambridge Tour de Grand.  Don has been recognized for his volunteerism as a Mel Osborne Award recipient from Kiwanis Club of Cambridge.  Don and his wife Libby live in Cambridge.

 

Joan Fisk
Joan Fisk is a lifelong resident of Cambridge and is actively involved in the community. In her most recent position, she lead the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce as President & CEO. Prior to that, Joan was President & CEO of the Tiger Brand Knitting Company in Cambridge, where she transformed the long-standing family business from a textile manufacturer into a brand name-based retail apparel enterprise. A graduate of the University of Guelph, Joan has been recognized for contributions to both her industry and community as a recipient of the 125th Confederation of Canada Anniversary Medal, The Outstanding Business Leader Award from Wilfrid Laurier University, the YWCA Women of Distinction Award and the Conestoga College Governors Award. Joan currently serves on the Board of Canada’s Technology Triangle (CTT), the Board of Governors of Wilfrid Laurier University, a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Laurier School of Business and Economics, and as a Director of the Gore Mutual Insurance Company.

  Barry Kennedy
Barry Kennedy is Senior Vice President, of Gore Mutual Insurance Company.  He has been actively involved in his community serving as a former volunteer Director of the K-W Symphony, President of the Conservative Business Association of Waterloo Region, Fund Raising Chair of the Fredericton United Way and Director of the ROW International Airport Business Advisory Council.  In 1999 he was Canada’s 2nd highest fund raiser for a day-long event for the Canadian Cancer Society.  Barry was educated, primarily in Woodstock ON and received his apprenticeship in insurance while working at Lloyds, in London England.  Barry’s wife Gillian is a graduate nurse from the RVH in Montreal; they  have two children and an 18 month old grandson, Jack.   Barry & Gillian have been married for 43 years and live in Waterloo.
 
  Naveen Rakkar
Naveen Rakkar is Director, Human Resources at COM DEV International.  With 15 years of experience in human resources at large Canadian corporations, Naveen brings a breadth and depth of HR knowledge.   Naveen's education includes an Honours B.A. from the University of Toronto, a post-graduate diploma in Human Resources Management from Humber College and a certificate in Advanced HR Management from Rotman School of Business. She also holds designations as Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).   Most recently, Naveen is a member of the 2010 class of Leadership Waterloo Region’s Community Leadership Development Program.   In her role at COM DEV,   Naveen manages the donations and sponsorship portfolio and leads/participates in numerous community relations initiatives.  Raised in Cambridge, she lived in the GTA for 13 years before returning in 2008.  Naveen currently resides in Hespeler with her husband and two sons.
  Mike Takacs
Mike Takacs is currently President & General Manager of African Lion Safari & Game Farm Ltd., one of Ontario’s largest privately owned attractions, and one of Canada’s largest accredited zoological parks.  He is a Cambridge native and lives in Cambridge with His wife Karen O’Grady and their three children.  Mike is a past president of the Canadian Association of Zoos & Aquariums, and has been a long term member of the CMH Foundation ProAm Golf committee

  Dr. Michael Lawrie, MD, CCFP, FCFP is the CMH Interim Chief of Staff. Dr. Lawrie has been actively and extensively involved in advancement of his medical profession and in the community of Cambridge since 1977. He is a preceptor for the Rural Ontario Medical Program since 2005 and continues to mentor medical students. He is a certified small group facilitator and Teaching Associate of Medicine at McMaster University. Dr. Lawrie is the Team Physician of Junior B Hockey Team “The Winterhawks” and Cambridge Figure Skating Club. He is also Medical Director of Short Track Speed Skating Championships (Worlds, 1994 and North American, 2004). Dr. Lawrie is an extensive community volunteer and has served such positions as President, Rotary Club of Cambridge Sunrise; and Chair, United Way of Cambridge and North Dumfries Campaign Cabinet.
